A poem to a lost friend

My body trembles

releasing my tears

This pain in my heart

been cutting for years

Why did you leave me?

Why did I let you?

Why didn't I fight,

after all that we went through?

I promised I'd die for you

Instead I just cried for you.

I just walked away

when I should have been there for you,

my heart was conflicted

with no ideas what to do.

I'm sorry I ran at a time you most needed me

at a time in our lives when it should have been plain to see.

I missed all the clues, the warnings and bells

and ever since then I've been living this hell.

Now the years have gone by

and they haven't been kind

each waking moment

it's you on my mind.

I still look at your picture with tears in my eyes

wanting so badly to feel you

wanting so badly to die.
